Cartoon Tuesday: Just when you thought life couldn't get more absurd...
Cartoon Tuesday
Found this gem in the archive this morning, a one-page comic tale by Pat Corrigan that we published in March of 2018. It’s a good reminder that it’s not just Trump — this country has always been absurd.
Oh, and yeah, check out Lake of Dracula. Wild stuff.
Highlights
Got word from soul brother Ricky Wood (a.k.a. The Tune Guru, a.k.a. head chef at the legendary Rick’s Lobby Cafe) that he’s hosting a fun new weekly game night at Za (25 Preble St., Portland) called Name That Tune Trivia, at 6 p.m. We usually don’t highlight trivia nights here, as they’re so numerous and niche to one’s neighborhood or tastes, but there’s music involved, their pizza’s delicious, and Rick never fails to put a smile on your face.
Nested in Olympia, Wash., Pigeon Pit plays frenetic punk-folk packed with lyrics about alienation, liberation, intoxication and such. A solo acoustic set by Milk St. and a set by Portland art rapper Myles Bullen precede theirs at DIY venue The Bike Barn (547 Blackstrap Rd., Falmouth) at 7 p.m. Tix: $15 (all ages; masks requested).
