The Bollard Bulletin for June 18, 2025
Doin' it in the park, doin' it after dark, oh yeah...
Highlights
Director Jumana Manna’s short documentary Foragers reveals one of the myriad examples of the soft power fuckery Israel’s government has inflicted on Palestinians for decades — in this case, a senseless law banning the collection of akkoub, a thistle-like vegetable prized in Palestinian cooking but rarely eaten by Israelis when uncultivated. It screens at SPACE (538 Congress St., Portland) at 7 p.m. Tix: $10.
Exciting show, as usual, at The Apohadion Theater (107 Hanover St., Portland), with the lo-fi “electronic honky tonk” of Chevrolet Pile, locals Crazy Déjà Vu promising a “total freakout,” and the “extreme pop experience” of singer Rosie Borden (recently profiled in The Regulars) at 8 p.m. Tix: $10-$20 (all ages; pay what you can).
The electronic DJ collective Deer Den Radio jumps from the stream to the street tonight at Flask Lounge (117 Spring St., Portland), with Unreal and Bottle Kids supplying the bass-heavy beats and glitchy breaks while Joe Pro handles the visuals at 9 p.m. Tix: $5 (21+).
Portland’s Parks Commission is throwing its Party in the Park today at Payson Park beside Back Cove at 4:30 p.m. There’ll be live music by The Pine Tones, food trucks galore, and fun activities for all ages. It’s free.
