Cartoon Tuesday: 150 years into the future, Yankees still suck
Cartoon Tuesday
This week’s futuristic comic by Corey Pandolph is from our very first print edition, published in the summer of 2007. Corey contributed illustrations to Casco Bay Weekly prior to freelancing for us, and went on to create the series Barkeater Lake and to draw comics for a big-city magazine called The New Yorker, among other accomplishments. In the wake of the lowly Sox’ recent series with their hated rivals, during which they won two out of three games, this one seems appropriate. (p.s.: Yes, that’s political columnist Al Diamon pictured on the wall at Gritty McDuff’s.)
Highlights
Neptune, the longstanding collective famous for fashioning instruments from scrap metal and making noise rock with ’em, plays The Apohadion Theater (107 Hanover St., Portland) with Morningstar and madcap performance artist Crank Sturgeon at 8 p.m. Tix: $10-$20 (all ages).
Guess I have Gritty’s on the brain — I recently resurrected my Mug Club membership, too, so there may be some Vacationland still sloshing around up there — as it’s time to remind you that Travis James Humphrey has a weekly gig at their Old Port brewpub (396 Fore St.) at 6 p.m., playing his original country songs and an astounding range of covers, often using guitar loops. It’s free for all ages.
